Mohammad Riyad Hamza was born in Babylon, Iraq in 1947. When he finished his secondary school study there, he moved to Baghdad to study Economics at Baghdad University. Four years later, he graduated and was appointed a lecturer of Economics then an economic researcher in the Iraqi Ministry of Industry. During 1971-1979, he participated in training courses in Iraq and in Europe on conducting feasibility studies for industrial engineering projects and on establishing and managing vocational training centers. He left Iraq for the U.S.A in 1979 when he was admitted to the graduate program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and returned six years later after earning Masters and Doctorate degrees in Industrial Education. In 1985, he joined the University of Technology in Baghdad as a faculty member where he taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and co-founded the Department of Industrial Management. He left Iraq in 1992 to work as a university professor in Libya and Jordan. In 2000, he came to the Sultanate of Oman to head the Department of Business Studies at the Higher College of Technology in Muscat. He is now an Expert in Business Studies for the Ministry of Manpower in Oman.
