Elaine relocated to the Middle East 13 years ago when she joined HSBC, having started her banking career in UK. Having gained broad banking experience, She moved into the field of risk management over 20 years ago, initially through Internal Audit and onwards to Operational Risk where she has played a key role in establishing and embedding this risk discipline throughout the twelve countries that HSBC as operated in across MENA during her tenure. Working with her HSBC Group colleagues she has been hands on in shaping and evolving an operational risk framework, responsive to regulatory and industry demands, building a culture of close collaboration with other risk disciplines and functions within the bank. This has included driving a Three Lines of Defence model, ensuring a real sense of ownership and accountability for the management of risk and controls within the First Line.
