Engineer Rehan Ahmed is currently working as Head of Waste Disposal Unit at the Supreme Council for Environment, Kingdom of Bahrain. He is an Environmental and Sanitary Engineer by profession having educational qualifications of Bachelor of Engineering in Civil and has earned two Master of Science degrees, one in Environmental Engineering and other in Sanitary Engineering from International Institute for Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering, Delft, the Netherlands. He has over thirty five years of professional experience on projects related to waste management, recycling, reuse and recovery & environmental impacts assessments. He has been instrumental in construction, development, operation and management of Hafira industrial landfill site and establishment of healthcare waste treatment facility in Bahrain. Eng. Rehan Ahmed has working experience in Bahrain, Pakistan and the Netherlands and has several publications to his credit including book on “Compost and its Utilization” which was published in 2001 and “Waste Rubber Recycling” which was published in 1996 in the Netherlands. In addition, he has authored many technical papers on the subject of waste management and environment and has conducted many workshops on Environmental Legislations and waste management. Eng. Rehan is contributing a weekly column on various environmental issues in Daily Tribune Newspaper, Bahrain.
