Florence Nyokabi is the Area Head of HR, East Africa for Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), where she is responsible for steering the Bank’s strategic people agenda in East Africa. As a member of the HR Africa Management Group, her mandate is to enable business success by translating complex needs into people solutions.Nyokabi is an accomplished HR Professional, with over 18 years progressive experience in generalist HR practice with leading entities in the East Africa region. She joined the Bank on 1April 2014, from KPMG, where she headed the Human Resources and Administration function for 6 countries in the East Africa region (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia and Southern Sudan). Nyokabi started out her HR career in 1995 at the Kenya Television Network (KTN), and later worked with NIC Bank for 9 years, where she helped set up the Bank’s HR function. She left NIC Bank to join KPMG in 2007.Nyokabi holds a Masters Degree in Human Resources, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Marketing, both from the University of Nairobi. She is an Associate Member of the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and the Institute of HR Management (IHRM) in Kenya. She brings a track record of demonstrable achievements in HR, and has a special passion for driving HR transformation and/or repositioning of the people agenda in organizations.Over time, Nyokabi’s achievements have been recognized in the industry. In 2009, she was the recipient of the Most Valuable Professional (MVP) award for her contribution to realigning the People Agenda at KPMG. In 2012, she was selected under the Top 40 Under 40 Women Professionals in Kenya for her contribution in the HR profession.
