Janeen Uzzell is the Global Director of Operations with the GE Global Research (GEGR) External Affairs and Technology Programs (EATP) team. In her newly appointed Executive role, Janeen will manage and oversee all operational and business development aspects of external funding for Technology Programs in the areas of Healthcare, Aviation, and Energy while carrying out the strategy and vision of the EATP organization. In addition, she will solicit funding and support for GEGR by cultivating new global commercial partnerships, external relationships and expanding existing connections. Through close partnerships with the GR and GE business partners, she will ensure optimal strategic alignment, resource allocation and talent development. Prior to her current role, Janeen was the Director of Healthcare Programs and healthymagination for GE Africa where she led a team focused on building solutions for health in the world’s most challenging and compromised environments. She has been a part of the healthymagination team since its launch in 2009, supporting the strategy in India and Asia, and in 2012 she extended her focus in Africa. Janeen has been a lead advocate in positioning GE as a trusted advisor in rural health. She strategizes with Ministries of Health, Heads of State, and global partners on how to best align GE’s innovation to solve global health challenges and expand access to healthcare through “disruptive” models. Her strategic focus on healthcare solutions in low resource settings has afforded her leadership on several United Nations and Global Health councils and she has co-authored joint publications focused on maternal and newborn health. From 2006-2009, she was an Ambassador for GE’s Developing Health Globally program in Africa where she lead sustainability for the company’s donation efforts, monitoring equipment uptime and working closely with the country medical leaders on growth and key projects. During her tenure as Ambassador, Janeen oversaw the redesign and construction of rural and district hospital wings, the installation of village water towers, and global community outreach efforts. Noted as an expert in maternal and newborn health, she also serves as an advisor for innovative technology solutions for various organizations and co-chairs the Medical Device Task Force for the Innovative Working Group hosted by the UN. Janeen holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, and an MBA in International Business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has recently relocated to the Albany area of Upstate, NY. Having received numerous awards for her professional accomplishments, Janeen most notably received The United Nations Global Leadership Award and The Network Journal’s “40-Under-40” Award. Beyond her professional achievements, she is the former Co-Chair for the GE Healthcare African American Forum and a leader in the GE Women’s Network. She also is a member of the National Association of Female Executives, the National Society of Black Engineers, the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, and a Board Member of the International Black Women’s Public Policy Institute. She is a founding member of her former church and a committed family member and friend.
