Jean-Marc Ovigne holds a PhD in cellular and molecular biology from the University of Poitiers, France.

After a post-doc at the Imperial College in London working on the immunopathology of psoriasis and a position at Nestlé Research Center in Lausanne working on probiotic bacteria and the immune system, he joined L’Oréal in 2003. There he was in charge of the non-regulatory in vitro safety evaluation for skin sensitization, and later also for skin and eye tolerance as well as genotoxicity.
Dr. Ovigne was member and then deputy chairman of the Cosmetics Europe’s skin tolerance expert task force, representing L’Oréal for 6 years where he managed or participated in many ring studies and initiated the U-SENS validation at ECVAM.

Since 2011, Dr. Ovigne is head of EPISKIN’s R&D department overseeing the optimization and development of reconstructed tissue models.
