John began his career as a scientist in within a large Pharma company (which latterly evolved to be GSK), eventually working as a production supervisor in its medical diagnostics division. He then moved to work in HR as a trainer, team coach and eventually a learning and organisation development Business Partner. He was principally involved as company functions became exposed to cross-function project operations.
He then left employment to become a freelance consultant helping life science clients with organization development, team building, skills training / coaching. In the 2000’s, he began to specialise in enhancing collaborative working cross-functional project management and alliance / CRO outsourcing partnerships. He has worked with both global and Biotech organisations. Examples of his projects are: Aligning US and UK teams; Building a more effective cross-functional culture; Helping the Research functions of a global firm to to review ways of operating in the midst of pandemic home-working; Helping to build a new matrix of project and science leadership; Helping to build CRO outsourcing processes.
Some five years ago John joined the Phetairos as an associate consultant. Phetairos supports its clients to release the full potential of their products, organisation and people through a community of world class subject matter experts and consultants.
John is an active member of the Pharmaceutical Industry Project management Group (PIPMG), which works to promote the profession of project management within the life science sector. He currently acts as Training Director.
He lives in the south of the UK.
