John P. Warren, Jr. is the Senior Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Petrobras America Inc. and its subsidiaries He is responsible for legal matters related to the United States subsidiary of Petrolio Brasiliero, one of the largest NYSE listed oil and gas companies in the world. Petrobras America operates the first FPSO in the Gulf of Mexico in ultra-deep water and a refinery in Pasadena, Texas. This requires knowledge of upstream, downstream, trading, commercial, and all related activities. In addition, all corporate governance and compliance matters are under his supervision for Petrobras America and its subsidiaries. Prior to joining Petrobras America Inc. he was Associate General Counsel for Intellectual Property Management at the University of Houston System where he was part of the original team that helped establish Research Partnership to Secure Energy for America where he is currently a Member of the Board of Directors and Secretary. He has been in-house counsel at a military vehicle manufacturer, an aerospace company, an international engineering and construction company, and AT&T Long Lines. He has been a partner in a law firm and is admitted in five states, six federal courts, and England & Wales. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an international arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association International Centre for Dispute Resolution. He is a member of organizations related to supporting international logistics, contracting, and arbitration. He has lectured at a number of universities on international negotiations, contracting, and other legal subjects. He has also been an Administrative Law Judge as well a retired member of the U.S. Army Staff Judge Advocates Corps.
