Matteo Napolitano has been the Deputy Head of Country and Sovereign Risk at HSBC since November 2014. As part of the role, he undertakes and supervises regular country reviews with a view to setting wholesale risk appetite, and is involved in the economic narrative of stress testing. Prior to joining HSBC, he was a Director in the Sovereigns team at Fitch Ratings, and before that a senior country analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit. Both roles had a focus on Emerging Europe. Matteo holds a degree in Economics from the University of Rome (Tor Vergata) and an MSc in Economics from Royal Holloway, University of London.
