In 2003, Matthias received his PhD at the Dept. of Immunology, Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine and University of Hamburg. In 2004, he moved to the Hannover Medical School, where he studied immune regulation in pediatric oncology. Since 2006, Matthias is team leader of research group “Immune regulation” at the Dept. of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Endocrinology. End of 2015 Matthias received his venia legendi in “Molecular Medicine”. His current work is focused on the generation of therapeutic and translational useful CARs in immunological processes like autoimmunity, inflammation, cancer and transplantation.
