Mercy Wanjau is a commercial lawyer, with over 15years of legal and regulatory experience in regulation of information, communication and technology (ICT) sector. She is a graduate of University of Nairobi,(LLB) Hons, University of Cape town (LLM) and Strathmore Business School (AMP). She is an Eisenhower fellow and serves on the board of trustees of SOS Children’s Villages, Kenya. Mercy is the Assistant Director, Regulatory & Governance at the Communication Authority of Kenya. In this role, she has engaged extensively with stakeholders locally to promote policy and regulatory frameworks that are responsive to growth and innovation in the ICT sector. She has played a key role in ICT policy and regulatory harmonization efforts regionally and internationally with the UN-ITU, UNCTAD, World Bank/Infodev, COMESA and EAC. She has published opinion papers and spoken on various sector regulatory issues. Mercy is married and is a mother to two girls. Away from work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. Mercy is also actively involved in community through mentorship. She is also an avid painter.
