Robert Uitdewillegen is since October 2016 Chief Process Safety Engineer and Process Safety Director for the Sadara Chemical Company as Dow secondee. He is accountable for providing functional leadership to the Sadara process safety team and site.  He is responsible for leading the development, optimization and implementation of the Sadara Process Safety policies and ongoing implementation of process safety/loss prevention guidelines, standards and programs; implementing training programs for the Sadara Process Safety Professionals and general engineering population; and the establishment of related company metrics to measure compliance and ensure continuous performance improvement. Robert earned a Chemical Engineering Master degree from the University of Eindhoven (Netherlands), in 1990. He has 26 years of experience in Manufacturing & Engineering, Project Management, Process Engineering and Process Safety and is a certified Black Belt.  Robert joined Dow in March 1990 in Terneuzen (Netherlands) as a Process Engineer for the Cumene Plant and held various positions within Process Engineering.  He supported a number of capital project including Styrene-3 Debottlenecking in Terneuzen, Polystyrene Plant in Schkopau (Germany), Oil Tanking Terneuzen, and was involved in the development of the POSM and HPPO process.  He moved in 2004 to Dow Haltermann in Kallo (Belgium), being responsible for the production and later for logistics.  In 2008 he joined the Process Safety Technology Center providing geographical support to various facilities in Europe. He was the business Process Safety Manager (PSTL) for Styrene and moved into Styron with the divesture.  In 2013 he rejoined Dow and started serving the DAS business and lately the PO&PG business, while continued providing geographical support to facilities in the Benelux. During this period he was member of the Process Safety Committee of the VNCI in the Netherlands. Robert is married to Maria Manuela, a Dow Sr. Process Engineer, and has two children, Thomas and Pedro. In his spare time he enjoys spending time on reading books, listen to music, playing golf & soccer, jogging and going on vacations to Portugal.
