Romke Bijker is an offshore and coastal morphologist with 30 year experience focussing on the complex interaction between pipelines/cables and the dynamic seabed, especially related to sand waves, span evolution, self-lowering and other dynamic seabed features, as his prime area of expertise. He worked on many pipeline and cable EIA projects dealing with ecological sensitive and technically demanding issues in many countries around the North Sea, the Baltic and the Black Sea. He supported the EIA, permitting and monitoring process of the Nord Stream offshore pipelines and presently supporting the South Stream project EIA and permitting process. As project manager he was responsible for the EIA of the BBL project from 2004 to 2006 and since 2008 as senior offshore advisor of BBL Company and part of the Pipeline Integrity Management Team of the BBL pipeline. During the last years, the focus has been on offshore pipeline and cable integrity management.
