Rory is currently Chief Executive Learning Officer of the Telefónica Group. His main responsibilities include: leading the Telefónica Corporate University; looking after the development needs of the company’s executives; and spearheading the initiative of using “learning as a lever for transformation” in the company. Previously he has been Associate Dean of London Business School; Vice President of Thunderbird, The International Graduate School of Management; and Director of International Executive Education at IESE, Barcelona. Rory was also the founder of “Leadership Essentials”, a company that enables individuals and companies to expand their leadership potential. Rory conducts leadership, communication and negotiation master-classes, speeches and management education seminars. He has directed a wide range of executive education programmes for the world’s top business schools, including Harvard, MIT, Stanford, LBS, IESE, IMD, ESADE, CEIBS, Singularity University and Imperial College. His big-picture insights, compelling observations, and fresh business thinking have impressed a wide range of audiences all over the world. He mixes insight, inspiration and information drawn from personal experiences from the front line of business, arctic adventure, and professional sport. His media appearances include, CNN, Business Week, The Financial Times and The BBC. Rory has acted on a number of Boards, including that of Said, Oxford University Business School, and as President of, a highly successful Barcelona based internet startup. Rory’s heart lies in the mountains and in the natural environment. As a professional ski racer he represented his country for 8 years. As a climber and traveler he has been on numerous expeditions to remote parts of Alaska, Greenland, Lapland, The Andes and The Himalayas. The BBC production, The Land Where the Glaciers Grow was a film of one of these journeys.
