Simon Williams joined National Bank Of Abu Dhabi in 2012 as Business Continuity Manager. Simon is responsible for managing the Business Continuity program for NBAD. He has 20 years’ experience in Business Continuity and IT Service Continuity from having worked both as an end practitioner and also as a consultant. He has been a member of the BCI since April 2000. Throughout his career Simon has shown his passion for the development of the art and science of Business Continuity either in the establishing of regional forums, staff mentoring or in process methodology. He is the Secretary to the newly formed BCI UAE Regional Forum. Simon’s career began in 1988 working in the Civil Service at HM Paymaster General, UK (the UK Government’s Bank) where he worked in IT Operations and Information Security. In 1997 Simon moved to Comdisco (now known as SunGard) as a Consultant working for Comdisco’s customers across Europe on Business Impact Assessments and Business Continuity planning assignments. In 2001 Simon moved to the Prudential Assurance UK as Business Continuity Manager for the IT division PruTech. Here Simon delivered many recovery exercises validating Prudential’s IT Service Continuity solutions and was lead on the Business Continuity programme for establishing Prudential India in Mumbai. In 2004 Simon joined EDS EMEA Business Continuity practice. Simon’s assignments covered a number of lead roles at EDS’ larger customers such as ABN Amro, Department of Work and Pensions, Rolls-Royce and Aviva. Simon was Global Process Architect for ITSCM and BCM 2009-2010. EDS was taken over by HP in 2008. In 2008 Simon worked with the British Standards Institute in the development of BS25777 – the code of practice for ICT continuity. Simon is also a freelance PADI Scuba Instructor and has dived across the world.”
