A Chartered Mechanical Engineer and Registered Project Professional, Steve has over 35 years of progressive experience in ensuring successful development and execution of complex, multi-billion dollar projects in the Oil & Gas industry. Steve joined Shell in 1990 following 10 years in the Nuclear Industry. His early years in Shell at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in the UK, included Project Engineering and Maintenance Management positions in both the refinery and chemicals areas of the plant. He moved to his first international assignment in 1999 as Construction Manager on the Kralupy refinery expansion in the Czech Republic. A six- year spell with the central projects group in The Hague included work on projects in Cyprus, the Netherlands, Germany, South Africa, Canada and Saudi Arabia as well as leading the implementation of a new global project execution process for Downstream projects. Steve was Project Director on the development of a $10Bn Greenfield refinery complex and then for the execution of a $10Bn Heavy Oil Upgrader project in Alberta, Canada which started up in 2011. He moved to his current role as VP Downstream Projects in 2011 where he is responsible for the development and execution of Shell’s global Downstream project portfolio. Steve is married and has one daughter, aged 27. Outside work he enjoys golf, skiing, football, motorcycle riding, cinema, attending music concerts and travel.
