Having lived and worked with diabetes for over 30 years, Dr Bootle has gained significant experience and understanding of the issues facing: • People living with diabetes and other long term conditions • Healthcare professionals working across all healthcare sectors • Healthcare organisations and businesses Dr. Bootle started work as a General Practitioner in the United Kingdom in 1990. His passion for change management enabled the development of a population based primary care diabetes service, delivered against identified need and performance managed against agreed standards. He left full time General Practice in April 2000 to provide primary care diabetes services. His knowledge and experience as a ‘user’, ‘provider’ (both primary and secondary care) and ‘commissioner’ of health services enables him to help healthcare organisations redesign their services to meet the needs of people with long-term conditions. Facilitation of change in the ‘healthcare professional / patient relationship’ is central to his current work as a Healthcare Business Consultant and Workshop Facilitator.
