Tariq Al-Rifai has extensive experience in Islamic investment and retail banking, Islamic equity funds, and Shariah-compliant structuring. He has worked with financial service companies in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. He is currently serving as the Head of Research & Investor Relations in KFH, Kuwait. He has successfully raised over $100 million in capital for private equity and real estate funds from Middle Eastern clients. Prior to joining KFH, he helped to establish UIB Capital LLC, a regulated financial services firm, in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and also he was the Vice President of Islamic banking at HSBC Bank in New York. He was responsible for developing and distributing the bank’s Shariah-compliant product offering. Previously, he was a partner in the London office of The International Investor, a Kuwait-based investment bank, where he was responsible for building distribution relationships with financial institutions in Europe and the Middle East. Early in his career he established Failaka International, Inc., a financial research and consulting firm specializing in Islamic fund research. He is an active writer and public speaker on investment strategy, macro trends and Islamic finance with previous speaking engagements in Bahrain, Cairo, Chicago, Dubai, Geneva, Kuala Lumpur, Kuwait, Los Angeles, London, New York, Paris, Riyadh, Toronto, and Singapore. He is also the author of Islamic Finance and the New Financial System: An Ethical Approach to Preventing Future Financial Crises by Wiley publications. He earned his B.S. in International Finance at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota, and earned his M.B.A. in International Management at DePaul University.
