Vijay Kumar graduated in Chemical Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi (India) in 1990, and has more than 24 years of experience in Projects, Design, Technical Services and commissioning of large petrochemical complexes (Reliance Industries Ltd., India and EQUATE Petrochemical Company, Kuwait). Vijay Kumar joined EQUATE Petrochemical Co. in 1997 and presently he is Process Safety Expert for EQUATE Petrochemical company, Kuwait.As Process Safety Engineer, his area of expertise include Chemical Process Safety Management and analyzing effects of chemical plant operator actions, control system response and process unit response during upset situations and hazardous operations that may lead to hazardous release. He leads hazard and risk assessments using industry accepted Process Hazard analysis (PHA) methods such as HAZOP studies, Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) studies, What-If studies, Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA), Root cause analysis and consequence analysis. He is also a Six Sigma Green Belt Project Leader.Vijay has authored and presented papers in AIChEGlobal Congress on Process Safety, American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Kuwait Process Safety Management, GPCA (Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association) workshops and conferences.
