Yaziz Yunus is a pioneering nuclear engineer in Malaysia and has spearhead the construction of Agensi Nuklear Malaysia (ANM) first nuclear research reactor, SINAGAMA and SterilGamma industrial scale gamma irradiators. Yaziz is currently regarded as one of the technical experts in the design, operation of industrial irradiation processing facility using gamma and electron beam technologies in Malaysia. He is actively involved in the training of radiation safety personnel being an active member of National Committee on the Certification of Radiation Protection Officers (JKPPPS), Atomic Energy Licensing Board, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation MOSTI). He was a member, Subcommittee (Code of Practice on Radiation Protection of Non-Medical Irradiation facilities), Atomic Energy Licensing Board, Malaysia (AELB), MOSTI and a member, TC on Nuclear Safety, Standard Industrial Research Institute Malaysia (SIRIM). He is a certified Radiation Protection Advisor (Category 1 – Nuclear Reactor, Irradiator) Yaziz is a key figure in the commercialization of nuclear technology in Malaysia and sits on the board of several companies and technical committees representing the industry at Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB), Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) and Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM). He holds a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from University Technology of Malaysia, a Bachelors Degree in Nuclear Engineering, a Masters Degree in Energy Resources from the United States and an MBA from National University, Malaysia.
