Meet the training leader
- Matteo Loizzo
- Well Integrity Consultant
- Germany
Course description
This 4-day master-class workshop will provide a comprehensive, in-depth review of what we currently know about Portland cement and wells. The course advance contents build on 25 years’ experience at the forefront of cement design and evaluation, and the past 12 years looking after the integrity of wells worldwide. This will enable us to look at cement through the eyes of the end user, who has to live with this sturdy material for decades after it is mixed and pumped, through all the phases of a well’s life cycle.
We will review both how to place dependable slurry, and what happens after the cementing crew left location. There are four modes of failure of annular cement and we will analyze them in detail, focusing on how to spot them on logs (and whether we need logs) and how to fix them. We will also discuss the neverending search for alternatives to Portland cement, and why this is partly driven by superficial understanding of the material’s strengths and weaknesses. Finally, we will look at cement’s best allies: creeping rocks. The training course is focused on cementing and well integrity professionals who are encouraged to bring some of their challenges along so we can apply together the techniques and methods discussed in class. The seminar is interactive, participative and hands-on, supported by real life examples and case studies; its open and relaxed atmosphere provides significant opportunities to network and exchange experience with peers and start finding answers to actual challenges in a collaborative setting.
