Course description
Whilst APC is widely accepted as an excellent investment to increase the profitability of existing process plant with excellent return on investment (ROI) most customers will want to calculate and justify the investment. This is carried out by doing a benefits study and calculating the expected APC benefits. Also, after an APC project has been completed, customers want to know how much benefits they achieved in practice by carrying out a post-audit.
This training provides a practical framework for calculating APC Benefits – for identifying, quantifying, and communicating the value of Advanced Process Control (APC) in industrial operations. It focuses on how to build robust APC benefits studies that support investment decisions, improve operational performance, and ensure sustained value delivery.
This course teaches you how to identify and calculate APC benefits using tried and tested methods. It also teaches you how to analyse data, remove outliers in various ways so that the data you use is validated and believable.
Participants will learn how to evaluate APC opportunities across process units, quantify improvements in throughput, energy efficiency, variability reduction, and product quality, and translate these into clear economic benefits. The course also addresses common challenges in justifying APC projects, including data limitations, baseline definition, and stakeholder alignment.
Through practical examples and structured methodologies, the programme enables participants to develop credible business cases for APC implementation and optimization, bridging the gap between technical performance and financial impact.
